LAS CUEVAS DE LOS RAJAHS
The origins of the cave
ABOUT LAS CUEVAS
When walking into Las Cuevas de Los Rajahs, you instantly feel like discovering a cave full of wonders and treasures. The difference is that the treasures you discover are delicious artisan cocktails; amid a variety of thematic events in an intimate setting with our friendly staff.
The name “Las Cuevas de los Rajahs” comes from James Brooke, an English traveler and explorer who became the first Rajah of Sarawak in Borneo in the 1840s. The reign of the Rajahs lasted for 3 generations with the Brooke family and involved some intense relationships with various tribe warriors, while fighting against violent actions like piracy and headhunting. This specific period of History is what inspired us when we gave the name to our Barcelona bar.
The ambiance of the bar differs from any other bar in Barcelona. This one is inspired by the dark caves we can find in this mysterious land of Sarawak, Borneo. An atmosphere which had been reproduced a few years later by the architect Antonio Gaudi, in some amazing caves he had designed when building the forgotten Sala Mercé, one of the first movie theaters in Barcelona. Decades later, we decided to give our Barcelona bar the same atmosphere and décor.
